Summer is here again, the joyful pair of goldfinches says so. How many times I have seen these beautiful backyard visitors, perched near the thistle, enjoying their meal. These little jewels are bright and bold in appearance, and I have spent a lot of time observing them in all their splendor. The sound they make brings back fond memories of summers past, and the reunion around the bird feeder. This pair of birds seemed to stay around a little longer than usual and I spent a lot of early mornings watching them as they jumped from thistle to thistle. The male is just vibrant with color, and his mate is muted but still impressive. Later on in the summer the whole family will show up and I find myself spending more time daydreaming than working, but oh well, what a sight.
