Had I But One Day To Live
Had I but one day to live I would gladly spend it with you,
For you see, I would love you all of that last day through.
I would hold you so tight and very close to me,
As we would laugh and sing, smile and pray, we would be together, so free.
The little things I would do, see the leaf fall from the tree, floating to
the ground,
Hold your hand, kiss your lips, walk with you and dance round and round.
I would show you the sunlight in your hair, the gentle breeze, all my
desire,
We would spend time together, talking and learning, as my heart caught fire.
Had I but one day to live my time would go quickly as you take me far away,
I would give you my heart's desire, I would pay any price for one more hour
on this day.
All that we have comes from very deep within as God has chosen us and
directed so,
Please know I would gladly spend my day with you, until my Lord calls and I
have to go.
Rainbows, powder blue skies and golden sunsets are but a few of lives best,
And as I lay my weary head on your shoulder I would pray for you to give me
rest.
Everything I feel would be from you, I need your time, as I can stay but for
the day.
Closing my eyes, I can feel you near, how I love you as I feel my soul float
slowly away.
And at the moment before I must leave you and say goodbye, as my one day
ends,
All we were would be within us forever, our love so strong our desire not of
sins.
I would look deep into your eyes saying, I love you my dear, you have made
my heart fly,
And at life’s last moment I would reach to hold and kiss you whispering, I
will be with you forever my love as I lift to the sky.
